On the 10th May an inspiring online event took place hosted by our long standing member Maurice Collins of Learning Disability Trust and Kith and Kids.
David Wilks shared The story of ‘Stanley Grange’
An Intentional Community of 40 residents with a learning disability where the charity that owned and ran the Village threatened closure against the wishes of residents and their families. After a bitter fight, the families bought the Village, and has been a successful and thriving community ever since.
Ralph Rosen and Peter Godfrey talked about what happens when the parents are no longer around
Two different approaches to advocacy support programmes from Reserve Power and KLASP that have been running successfully for over 20 years which supports the family member with a disability, NOW, and when the parents are no longer around.
